  • Authors: Amol Jagannath Dande (MIT ADT University, MIT School of Engineering), Standard meteorological measures such as temperature, moisture and humidity are observed and analysed for weather forecasting, especially for the early prediction of rainstorms. In the current era, information obtained through remote sensing provides more relevant data for weather forecasting applications. This paper presents a novel approach to predict the rainstorms by analysing parameters such as temperature, moisture and humidity. Firstly, the raw information to be analysed is collected by the sensor DHT11. This data is then pre- processed using Fuzzy logic and is presented to ESP8266 microcontroller. The normalized data thus obtained is further processed using cloud computing. SVM with Hadoop is utilized for analysing and storing the data on cloud. This novel approach is hence termed as Cognitive approach using Fuzzy logic and Support Vector Machine (CFS). The novelty of the proposed approach is the utilization of cognitive computing for collecting the information from different sensor nodes and further processing the information through cloud. The performance of the proposed approach is evaluated using Mean Square Error (MSE) and Mean Absolute Error (MAE) values.
